Buon Anno 2011-Make it a Beautiful Year!!!

Ciao bella,

The year is coming to a close. And for some acquaintances as I heard recently it was a “bad” year. How bad could it have been? I saw they were still alive and enjoying their Mother’s company. So I decided to write a column that appreciates beauty in a simple manner. The beauty of life!!!

I would ordinarily focus on all those New Year resolutions we normally struggle to keep. All the beauty tips, shortcuts for a cleansing routine and amazing skin remedies will be saved for during the year this time! Anyway I feel it best to focus on the moment of what we have accomplished during 2010. Think of your happiest moments in 2010 and write them all down. Jot down those things that made you feel that “Wow” feeling-there must have been some. Think of the restful moments when you might have been relaxing with a good friend, a deep and juicy phone conversation, a recent family dinner and /or outing. Remember all the wonderful movies you watched and all the good books you read. Magazine articles and newspaper articles also count as inspirational tools. The wonderful NEW friends you met this year that actually changed your life. Or even an old friend that has re-entered your life most happily. Write it all down. If there was a road trip or a trip to Paris or New Hampshire recall the moment, the anticipation, Uncle Al’s misplaced suitcase in the airport!!!! The funny stories, jokes you heard and even a favorite comedian should be remembered so you will always remember to laugh again. Think of a grand meal you had, the company and good humor. A baby’s birth or a wedding are “wow “moments! Leave all the “nasties” behind and focus on the good that has come out of 2010. Life is not measured with the quantity of breaths you take, but with the quantity of moments that took your breath away. OK-now here come the teachings of my wonderful Mom. They have lived in my mind and kept the spirit of keeping a beautiful life. “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty”! How true! “The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.”

So as 2010 comes to a close bring all the good moments with you. Making resolutions is part of a new start and a new year. No one says you must make them or keep them. That is also something to be grateful for “our freedom”. The freedom to choose whatever we feel like doing! So give thanks for this year and hope next year will be even brighter. God bless all for a happy and healthy New Year 2011!!
